The Los  Angeles Book Arts Center invites you to a very special weekend
with our  guests Keith Smith and Scott McCarney.  Keith and Scott
enjoyed their  trip to LA last year and they agreed to reprise their
visit with two new  classes.

On Saturday, March 5th, Keith and Scott will teach one of the  most
intriguing bindings of recent years, The Caterpillar.  Sunday,  March
6th, the two will teach a class on Celtic Weave Binding,  another
fascinating binding that is sure to draw attention no matter how  one
uses it.  These complicated looking bindings are simpler than  they

Keith Smith is the author of numerous authoritative volumes  on book
binding, having invented more bindings than almost any of  his
contemporaries.  His work is shown internationally.

Scott  McCarney's distinct visual style includes large scale sculptural
installations and limited edition artist books.  His work is shown

The Los Angeles Book Arts Center (LABAC)  is dedicated to serving as a
creative, intellectual and technical resource  for artists, collectors,
dealers, curators and individuals interested in the  book and paper
arts. The nonprofit Center's mission is to help build a  strong book
arts community in the Los Angeles area by offering exhibitions,
lectures, classes, meetings and continuous online discussion groups.
