[BKARTS] Edible Book Arts High/Low Tea Party in Los Angeles Saturday April 2

There's Still Time to Think About Edible Books -- A Call for Entries or
Entrees & Tips for "Cooking" Your Own Book

To inspire and help book artists and book lovers who're considering cooking
up a book for the Los Angeles Book Arts Center's annual Edible Book Art
High/Low Tea Party on Saturday, April 2, we're sending out these weekly updates
and tips on creating edible books.

Our purpose is to celebrate the book arts -- there is no competition or
judging, just the joy of creating your own book and taking in the imagination of
your fellow book lovers. Last year, our youngest participant was 5 years old
-- a testament to the inspiration that books have on our lives -- and if she
can do it, so can you!

This week it's time for a trial run -- also known as the "taste test"!

TIP FOR WEEK 4

Let's head to the kitchen and start to assemble your work of art. Think
experimentation, design, taste and creativity.

*What needs to be assembled first -- are you baking a sheet cake as the
"base" for your artwork?
*Are there pieces that need to be put together -- or cooked -- before the
whole can be produced?
*How does your piece look? Is what you imagined? Better? Do you need to
use a substitute ingredient for something that just doesn't work?
*How does it taste? Are the flavor combinations enjoyable? Would something
else make it even better?
*Look for inspiration all around. From your kids, friends, artists, chefs
and of course from your own natural creativity.
*Have Fun!
