Exhibit Opening Reception Announcement

        This Sunday, April 10, the Word & Image Gallery at Bright Hill Center in
Treadwell, New York, in the Catskill Mountain Region, will host an opening reception for
Joshua Beckman's and Jennifer Bervin's artists' books/poetry exhibit.  The exhibit will
continue through April 29,  and is open Monday-Friday, noon - 4 p.m.
        Joshua Beckman, who received his BA in Poetry and Book Arts from
Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, lives in Staten Island and Seattle. He works simultaneously
in both forms of art and he has taught classes on the juncture between poetry and visual
art at Hampshire College and the Rhode Island School of Design. He is the author of
four books of poems, including "Your Time Has Come," "Zapusti New York," "Nice Hat.
Thanks," and "Something I Expected to Be Different"; and several translations from the
Slovenian by Thomas Salamun. He has also made numerous artists' books. His visual
work has been shown regularly by Printed Matter in New York City since 1990, and he
has been part of group shows around the country.
        Jennifer Bervin, who received her MA in English, Creative Writing, and Poetry
from the Universeity of Denver; received her BFA in studio art from the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago. She is the author of two books of poetry: "Nets," a book of poems
written within Shakespeare's sonnets, and "Under What Is Not Under."  Her artists'
books may be found at Harvard, Yale, the Walker Art Center, The New York Public
Library, and the Mandeville Collection at UC San Diego. She received an Edward M.
Lannan Prize form the Academy of American Poets. She lives in Brooklyn and teaches
at New York University and Pratt Institute.
