Commencing May at artSynC (on Queensland's Sunshine Coast), we're presenting a season of introductory arts & creative workshops. For our first workshop program of the year, artSynC is presenting 12 workshops some of the Coast?s best-known artists. Throughout the month of May, artSynC will be hosting a variety of reasonably priced one- and two-day arts workshops each weekend. Please let others know what we have on offer next month:

Photography for Artists and Craftspeople
Paul Johnson
Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 May, 9am - 2pm both days

Photography serves three functions for an artist and craftsperson: to record the evolution of artistic growth ? documentation; to provide galleries, buyers and writers with visually stimulating images ? marketing; and to build an image bank of ideas for future use ? creativity. No matter what kind of equipment we have, it is possible to produce better images through learning the principles of content, context and lighting.

Paul Johnson has extensive experience in public artworks in Australia and New Zealand and has exhibited internationally.

Journey to Journals
Judy Barrass
Saturday 28 May, 9.30pm - 4pm

No knowledge of making books is necessary for this introductory workshop that covers some simple bookbinding techniques and the keeping of journals. Participants will construct several books, including a hard cover journal, and will explore various ways of recording experience. The skills learned can be used to create special and very personalised books as journals, albums, keepsakes, gifts, or works of art. The emphasis will be on developing creative approaches to the construction of journals and the recording of experience.
