Book Arts & Letterpress Printing Workshops

We invite you to try a Summer Workshop in our unique
artist?s Studio - register this week - by May 20th for
any workshop in May, June or July and receive 10% off
tuition for your first class!!  Classes are filling
up, so don?t delay.

Experience Art and Learning they way it should be ? in
an intimate setting conducive to bringing forth your
unique creativity.  We keep class sizes small - from 4
to 6 students, so you may enjoy a nurturing
environment and refreshing exchanges of ideas with
other artists, writers, and students.  Upcoming
workshops:

PRINTING WITHOUT A PRESS - Sunday, May 22,
10:00AM-4:00PM
Print a small book edition combining text and image
with hand printing. Create and design your images,
plan the printing sequence, carve soft blocks, and
print it with waterbased inks.  Each letter of text
will be set by hand. Collage elements will be
encouraged. This is a great introduction to book arts.
 All aspects of this low-tech printshop can be
re-created at home.  $115 plus $15 materials fee

BLOCKPRINTING: LINOCUT - Sunday, June 12:
10:00AM-4:00PM
Create a print edition in one day, in the tradition of
relief block printing!  Learn how to design and
transfer your image, get great tips on carving, and
print impressions in perfect registration.  An
introduction to relief printing and the Vandercook
letterpress includes lock-up, press adjustment,
inking, make-ready, and troubleshooting.  $115 plus
$15 materials fee

TUNNEL BOOKS - Saturday, July 23: 10:00AM-5:00PM
Derived from a peep show, a tunnel book allows the
viewer to look within & discover a hidden world. The
content evolves in accumulated layers, which unfold as
you gaze within the magical space.  You will be
introduced to a short history of playful movables, and
then explore numerous ways to adapt this structure to
your own diverse themes.  $130 plus materials fee $10

INTRODUCTION TO ARTIST?S BOOKS:
UNDERSTANDING & PLANNING YOUR EDITION
Sat/Sun, July 16 & 17: 10:00AM-4:00PM
Learn ways of combining text & image to effectively
communicate your ideas in the form of an artist?s
book.  Digital processes, letterpress printing,
intaglio methods, bindings and book structures will be
covered as you work on subject matter, explore
narrative sequencing, and layout ideas. Through
examples & problem-solving sessions, you will refine
your ideas, as you develop your unique book structure.
   $225 plus materials fee $10
