INTRODUCTION TO ARTIST?S BOOKS - Sat/Sun, July 16 & 17: 10:00AM-4:00PM

BLOCKPRINTING: LINOCUT - Sunday, June 12: 10:00AM-4:00PM

Create a print edition in one day, in the tradition of relief block printing!  Learn how to design and transfer your image, get great tips on carving, and print impressions in perfect registration on our vintage letterpress.  An introduction to relief printing and the Vandercook press includes lock-up, press adjustment, inking, make-ready, and troubleshooting.  $115 plus $15 materials fee

TUNNEL BOOKS - Saturday, July 23: 10:00AM-5:00PM

Derived from a peep show, a tunnel book allows the viewer to look within & discover a hidden world. The content evolves in accumulated layers, which unfold as you gaze within the magical space.  You will be introduced to a short history of playful movables, and then explore numerous ways to adapt this structure to your own diverse themes.  $130 plus materials fee $10



Sat/Sun, July 16 & 17: 10:00AM-4:00PM

An excellent introduction to book arts, learn ways of combining text & image to effectively communicate your ideas in the form of an artist?s book.  Digital processes, letterpress printing, intaglio methods, bindings and book structures will be covered as you work on subject matter, explore narrative sequencing, and layout ideas and develop your unique book.    $225 plus materials fee $10

Studio on the Square, An Intimate Setting for Learning offers book arts and letterpress printing workshops in New York City.  The Studio is committed to helping artists develop their work in book form. Small class sizes of 4 to 6 students allow for individual attention. Our focus is on the Art of the Book. We encourage freedom of expression and experimentation. The Studio prides itself on cultivating creativity and providing an environment where artists may explore their ideas while expanding their art practice, as they engage in the uniquely rewarding process of combining text and imagery.
