B2301. The Painted Word: Inspirational Calligraphy by Dave Wood. 1999.
94pp. 9.5"x9.25". Hardcover List $40.00. JNB Price $29.99

This book is a cornucopia of color, calligraphy and illustration.
There are nearly 100 full color reproductions of Dave Wood's work. Many
are on handmade paper which becomes an integral part of the composition.
Cut and folded paper is sometimes used to create a base relief
white-on-white paper sculpture. On other piece embossed letters form
part of the presentation. On others gilding is used. A variety of hands
are used from a formal italic to more informal versions as well as a
range of capital alphabets. A few accordion folded books are included
with the wall pieces. The technical notes give some information on
materials and techniques as well as the dimensions for each of the
pieces. Dave provides brief thoughts on each composition.
