It was originally Karen Zukor's advice to Hand Bookbinders of California to
rid some books of nasty smells acquired at the S.F. Public Library in their
cases.

I'm glad it worked.

In the spirit of moving on, I'd like to report that the "kitty litter"
solution for "old book smell" worked very well.  The cat thought it was
a little weird, though, and kept attempting to break into the bag
containing book and litter.
