From 6:00 to 9:00 pm on September 9th, BookWorks will
host an opening reception for "A World of Books"
Exhibition, giving book arts enthusiasts and newcomers
alike the chance to explore a variety of work by area
book artists. The following day, from 10:00 am to
3:00 pm, BookWorks will open their studio doors to the
public for the BookOpolis Family Day. At this all-day
event, the whole family is invited to try their skills
at letterpress and bookbinding, and every participant
will get to take something home that they've made with
their own two hands.

As BookOpolis draws to a close and the festivities
start winding down at BookWorks, the Ballyhoo will
just be getting started at Blue Barnhouse. On the
evening of September 10th, from 6:00 pm on into the
Wee Hours, folks are invited to head a bit further
west on Haywood and south on Brevard Road to Blue
Barnhouse, where they will enjoy music by Ménage,
Colin Stetson and Seth Kauffman, readings by Julie
Reid with John Davis and E. Kay Elliott, homebrew by
the Barnhouse's own Brandon Mise, and a plethora of
letterpress goodies and piñata surprises. Ballyhoo is
a benefit for Blue Barnhouse, to support their
impending move and the renovation of their new space
at 428 Haywood in the West Asheville Arts District.
