A  Personal Perspective: An Attempt at Innovation and Inventiveness
Joan Michaels Paque

This slide lecture will portray a chronological evolution of Joan Michaels Paque’s creative output with emphasis on her most recent series of complex pleat folds and tessellations. Her research, development and experimentation has resulted in a series of unique sculptural kinetic books that expand the definition of what a book is or can be. A selection of worldwide works by other artists will also be included.

Joan Michaels Paque is an internationally recognized multi-media artist. Recent research and experimentation with complex dimensional pleat folds and tessellations resulted in a series of unique sculptural kinetic books. Joan is currently writing a monograph on the subject. She has written and published three books and also writes for trade journals. She does commissions, serves on boards and teaches in the United States and abroad including in Japan, Australia, Europe, Mexico and Canada. Joan’s work is found in many corporate, private and museum collections.
