Afternoon Jet! Not sure what longevity means in this usage but your  
lifetime? Surely. Another 100 years? Probably given half decent  
storage conditions. You might consider that they are likely to  
outlast the new cases if done up in the leather you have previously  
mentioned online.
While inexpensive enough your edition is not of particular cultural  
or scholarly interest. In good original full leather the set is worth  
perhaps $400 and this largely as "furniture" in a decorator library.
