Re: [BKARTS] timeline

Does anyone know of a timeline of binding techniques? I'd like to see it all on one timeline - type of headband, raised cords, types of marbled papers, shape of headcap, attachment of boards...

Laurence Town. Bookbinding by Hand has a foldout table at the end of the book, showing the numerical order sequence for different binding styles.

The table in this book doesn't carry all the detail you asked for, such as types of marbled paper and shapes of headcap. You would have to go to a book like Bernard Middleton's History of English Craft Bookbinding Techniques or even his Restoration of Leather Bindings, or to other traditional bookbinding books, such as Arthur Johnson's Thames and Hudson Manual of Bookbinding. Most good classic Manuals discuss the finer details of techniques as they instruct.
