You could take digital photographs of it by setting it up in direct light
and snapping away. Also, there's a book scanner out there that's allows the
book to placed face down at a 90 degree angle: OpticBook 3600
(http://www.plustek.com/products/book.htm). I haven't used this yet, but
it's slated for use in one of my projects.

There are photocopiers available which are made just for books which are
unable to be placed flat on the glass plate of a regular copier.
Unfortunately I have no idea where one finds them. If a local copy shop
doesn't have one, perhaps a nearby university library might?
