[BKARTS] A Capital Question

Book Arts & Letterpress Lists:

I've got a typographic question for you. I've been pouring over my Robert Bringhurst, but to no avail... I still don't feel confident that I know the answer for sure. Here is a line of text from a book that we are currently designing, pulled directly from the manuscript:

One set lacked the consonant "H", while the other lacked the vowel "A".

I am inclined in my typographic gut to set those two capital letters in small caps, with no quotation marks. I'm curious if the typographers amongst the lists would agree with that, or if you would use regular Roman capital letters. Either way, the quotation marks would get the boot, no?

Your wisdom greatly appreciated,
John
