Re: [BKARTS] Need Cave Paper Use Help

Michelle,
I saw this post awhile back and wanted to say hi. I, too, remember the class, and how great it was to work with MaryAnn.
--Geeze, when I looked the post was a LONG time ago--I just found it the other day,
Anyway, hi and wishing you well,

Hi Kevin,
It's been a while since I used those beautiful Cave papers - I love them
as well, but I do remember using straight PVA helped - less moisture
introduced through the meth cell - and using a telon bone folder was
also key. You can apply the needed pressure - but it won't burnish the
surface like a regular bonefolder will.
I took a great class a few years ago with MaryAnn McKellar-Schwarcz and
we were able to experiment a lot with Cave Papers. One of my absolute
favorite techniques was to use the pva/meth cell mix to your advantage
by making a cutout of a shape in say 20 pt. board and laminating it
between 2 layers of Cave Papers and then burnishing with your bone
folder. The paper stretched enough to conform to the shape and was like
magic. I still have a few Cave Paper "paper buttons" that I made - very
fun.
Good luck,
Michelle
