[BKARTS] Strength of Goatskin: tearing/splitting troubles

I'm guessing Harmatan and an overly thinned skin because they seem to be reducing the substance of their goats (perhaps only at the request of the importer) more than any other producer I know.
Is it Hollander's that sells it at just about half a millimeter?! And Harcourt's also tend to the thinnish unless otherwise requested.
The larger the skin the greater this problem becomes and "ease of working" has really gotten out of hand I fear. Best, James
