[BKARTS] Position Available - Conservator, Herzog August Bibliothek, Wolfenbuettel, Germany
The Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbuettel Germany is seeking to appoint as
soon as possible (subject to the release of funding)
Conservator
(Salary IVb BAT)
Qualifications:
· degree from a recognized graduate conservation training program, or
equivalent formalized advanced training or relevant experience in book and
paper conservation
· long-standing hands-on experience, particularly in the handling of
library materials
· capacity for independent work and initiative
· commitment to the job and ability to work in a team
· familiarity with IT applications
· willingness to pursue further vocational training
· working knowledge of German and English is essential
Responsibilities:
· preservation and conservation treatment of manuscripts, rare books
and graphic art on paper from the Middle Ages to the present day
· solving of particularly difficult conservation and preservation
tasks and their documentation in written and visual records
· co-operation in the installation of exhibitions
