[BKARTS] Japanese Paper for Leather Board Reattachment

First off Matt congratulations!
I do have two suggestions for the future. Firstly, SC6000 forms a rather brittle film and you will do better I think to use a good microcrystalline, say Renaissance Wax, especially at the joints where flex is at a premium. It will not give you as high a sheen as you've attained with the SC but then to my eye that will be a good thing.
And you have not replaced the missing endbands. These are quite important, especially at the tails, as they help to support the book at the spine and by extension relieve some strain from the joints. Use a strip of correctly sized cord (you want to just fill then square) within a fold of your toned Japanese paper. Assuming that you do not use the endbands to pull the books off the shelf then you only need a very small area of attachment at head and tail. Cockerell's BOOKBINDING AND THE CARE OF BOOKS is available online and his section on library binding does, I believe, cover a turned in cord endband.
I hope that you keep us all informed as to your discoveries and progress. One of the most important binders of the 20th century, Sybil Pye, was entirely self taught with only the use of Cockerell's book. So there is that.
Best, James

James
