As far as daylight is concerned, all that is necessary is
to remove the yoke from the base, drill holes in the ends
of a couple of pieces of flat steel, about 1/4" thick by a
couple of inches wide.
Bend a right-angle at the ends of the steel and then bolt
the pieces to the yolk and base.
I used a few modified presses for years, and they worked
just fine, with approx. 18" of daylight.
