[BKARTS] Book-off: LIVE this Friday in Madison, WI
You're invited to a Wisconsin Book Festival program
"Book-off: A Competitive Book Making Event"
Friday, October 20 from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Wisconsin Union Theater
See talented artists in a frenzy of folding and gluing! Modeled on TV
shows like "Iron Chef" and "Project Runway," this elimination-style
tournament will feature artists competing against each other and the
clock to solve book design challenges. Six contestants, three rounds,
cool book structures. One winner. Awards.
Competitors are students enrolled in Professor Jim Escalante's artists'
book class in the Department of Art.
Presented by the Silver Buckle Press, UW-Madison Libraries.
Color commentator: Professor Emeritus Phil Hamilton. Judges: artists
Tracy Doreen Dietzel and Amy Newell.
The competition will take place on the theater stage with live video
feed projection onto a rear screen. We will also be showing a looped
slide show of images (over 900) from the Kohler Art Library's artists'
book collection.
Please tell your friends, and feel free to drop in anytime during the
event. It's free and open to the public.
