Re: [BKARTS] what color printer?

Never tried fly paper, but who knows.

I used sandpaper on the front of an artist book of poetry and photography on stone.
I wanted something with a stone texture.
Could have printed a transfer and transfered the image to an actual pice of stone, but that really shoots up the effort and weight.

I am not sure, but I feel that sandpaper is more archival than blotting paper.

Now the fly paper idea, hmmmm

Perhaps as an advertising piece for a hardware store? If you look at eBay you'll see lots of printed advertising on blotting paper.

The color of the sandpaper depends on the image, ( it will never be 100% photographic, but you could make a profile.)
I used a light tan paper, about 100 grit, for an image of rock that was predominantly reds, yellows and browns.

When putting odd material through a printer, know your printer first. No sense trashing good equipment.

The 7800 has a narrower gap and the head is more exposed to rubbing. In that case I would put through various materials but not sandpaper.

I have fed leather, cloth, brass, sandpaper, lucite, glass, mat
board and various other materials through a 7500 and some through a
7800. If it is rigid it requires a printer with a straight paper
feed path, otherwise anything less than 1/16th inch will go. Some
things I coat, others, not. Often I have to mount flexible
materials to paper, sometimes with tape, sometimes temporary
photographic spray mount.

Registration is the most recalcitrant problem.

Experiment is the only way to find for sure.
