Re: [BKARTS] Remember library card catalogs ?
When we were automating our catalog in 99-2000 we distributed the drawers to artists who expressed interest (U.S. and european) and allowed a few months for them to interact with the drawers. They all returned something for a group show entitled Long Overdue. The results ranged from altered cards and drawers to paintings inspired the cards content to a gorgeous close-up photo by barry bean of the "skin" part of a B.F. skinner card (now in my collection -- yea!) It was great fun and the works (drawers) that didn't sell went home to the artists at the end.

Along similar lines, our local public library (Kirkwood, Missouri, a
suburban St. Louis community) is having a silent auction for a library card
catalog cabinet. It is in very good shape. Blonde. Minimum opening bid is
$100. The auction runs until Monday, December 17.
If you're interested, contact me off list for details. I could take photos
if you're interested. You'd have to come pick it up, or I'd be willing to
work with you for delivery within a reasonable proximity.
