Re: [BKARTS] pop up repair question

Tengujo is a very thin kozo paper, and it is a good choice to use for repairing or reinforcing. It is thin enough that text can be read through it. I have used it a great deal instead of heat-set tissues. As long as you are careful, use paste (not pva), then I don't think you will cause any problems. It will be nearly invisible.

I too have reservations about tyvek, even though archival tyvek is available. Somewhere in the past (possibly this list) there was a comment made that tyvek does not have especially good fold endurance, but I've not seen any scientific evaluation of it. Perhaps someone else will know?

Repairing torn ligatures isn't always enough, one needs to reinforce primary folds and remove or reduce folds caused by the damage.
My thoughts run to pasting a layer of Tengujo to back of the affected area, then recutting and refolding the original mechanism.
does this sound like overkill?

Thanks
