Re: [BKARTS] query - whatsit?

That's exactly what it is. Pretty much a whatever-you-want-it-to-hold that fits organizer. These things (and others kinda-sorta-likem) are described in many of the traditional manuals, including those aimed at people learning the craft as a form of physical/vocational rehab. This was Joyce's earlier query <http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byform/mailing-lists/bookarts/2008/06/msg00052.html>.

In Germany, these sorts of things all belonged to the skills that were required learning for apprentices so most of the hard-core manuals cover them in one form or another - Lüers, Wiese, Henningsen, Moessner, ... Once one has figured out one, coming up with variations is easy.

Pottery Barn, Pier 1, any of the places that sell these sorts of things are great places to go for other ideas too...
