The Athenaeum is worth a visit any time you're in the San Diego area.
Over 100 years old, it's one of the few remaining subscription
libraries in the country. It's housed in an historic building, with
newly expanded exhibition space, a small school of the arts, and an an
excellent collection of artists books.
