Storage of posters and maps

Re Kurt Koss's question on storing maps and posters:

Leave the canvas cover (it's called a dust cover, and for good reason)
on; it protects the contents of the drawer from dust, it keeps contents
from curling over the back of the drawer, and it keeps the contents at
the front from being torn and bent. Certainly you can always put more
into a drawer than is good for the contents--the dust cover helps at
least from the mechanical-damage standpoint. Map libraries use folders
made of acid-free paper--one folder per map for rare/valuable
material--or encapsulate in Mylar.
