Adhesives for facing

From: Cathy Atwood <catwood>
Date: Thursday, November 9, 1995
I remember a talk on using methyl cellulose to apply a facing to a
paper object. The idea was that warm water could be used for a
bath, and a backing could be applied with wheat starch paste, and
the facing could then be removed with cool water. Methyl cellulose
and wheat starch were supposed to be most readily
dissolved/re-dissolved in different temperatures of water. Now I
can't find the source of this memory. Does anyone know a citation,
or have you heard of this or used this concept? Thanks,
