Subject: Adhesives for facing
I remember a talk on using methyl cellulose to apply a facing to a paper object. The idea was that warm water could be used for a bath, and a backing could be applied with wheat starch paste, and the facing could then be removed with cool water. Methyl cellulose and wheat starch were supposed to be most readily dissolved/re-dissolved in different temperatures of water. Now I can't find the source of this memory. Does anyone know a citation, or have you heard of this or used this concept? We need your help. FAIC seeks to improve CoOL and the DistList, and increase their value to the conservation field and beyond. In an effort to do so, we have put together a short, voluntary survey of DistList subscribers and other users of the CoOL website and its various resources. Please help us develop these invaluable resources by taking a few minutes to complete the survey
