Subject: Dataloggers
We are looking into purchasing several dataloggers in the near future. I have done some calling around and read relevant postings in the Cons DistList archives. I have been able to acquire a lot of information on the ACR smartreaders and I have spoken to several people who are currently using this system to get their opinion. I even found some useful basic information on the ACR's on a web page for those that are interested http://www.acrsystems.com/acr I have been less successful gathering information about other datalogger systems and their comparative performance. These are the other systems I have come across and I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has used them or can provide more information: * The Rustrak Scout (replacement for the Rustrak Ranger previously used by some museums) which has the advantage of a real-time digital display on the unit (ACR system does not) but has the disadvantage of being somewhat larger and more expensive. * The Testo 171 distributed by Conservation Support Systems, which I know nothing about beyond the entry in their catalog. I am also aware of the Hanwell Monitors RL System (Radio Telemetry) but believe at this point this system is too complex (and expensive) for our current needs. Again, I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information about the ACR's, Rustrak Scout, Testo 171 or other systems of which I am not yet aware. Feel free to contact me directly by e-mail or phone (212) 769-5447. Thank you. We need your help. FAIC seeks to improve CoOL and the DistList, and increase their value to the conservation field and beyond. In an effort to do so, we have put together a short, voluntary survey of DistList subscribers and other users of the CoOL website and its various resources. Please help us develop these invaluable resources by taking a few minutes to complete the survey
