Subject: Defining conservators

Defining conservators

From: Jean D. Portell <jeandp>
Date: Wednesday, December 9, 1998
This query is for people all over the world: Where you live, what
differences do non-conservators--such as museum curators, artists,
collectors, the general public--perceive between a "professional"
conservator and anyone else who represents himself or herself as a
conservator? (I use the word "perceive" to emphasize that the
determination may be quite subjective.) The purpose of this query is
to start a discussion about what defines a conservator, in the
opinions of those who *use* conservation services rather than of
those who provide them.

We need your help. FAIC seeks to improve CoOL and the DistList, and increase their value to the conservation field and beyond. In an effort to do so, we have put together a short, voluntary survey of DistList subscribers and other users of the CoOL website and its various resources. Please help us develop these invaluable resources by taking a few minutes to complete the survey
