Date: Sun, 29 Dec 2002 Subject: What glue to use for skin repairs From: Robert W. Dickerman <bobdickm [at] UNM__EDU> To: Bulletin Board for Bird Collections and Curators <AVECOL-L [at] LISTSERV__LSU__EDU> We have been accumulation a drawer of injured skins--most happened during our move two years ago, but with older material "things" happens. I used to use an acetone-based glue such as "Duco", but now prefer a water-based glue such as "Elmers" when I have a very touchy skin that needs to be glued rather than sewn closed. Are there strong recommendations for or against any type or trade-named glue? We need your help. FAIC seeks to improve CoOL and the DistList, and increase their value to the conservation field and beyond. In an effort to do so, we have put together a short, voluntary survey of DistList subscribers and other users of the CoOL website and its various resources. Please help us develop these invaluable resources by taking a few minutes to complete the survey
