Fellowship in Traditional Ornamental Plasterwork 2003-5
Building Conservation Fellowship Programme
Historic Scotland

An annual stipend of UKP14,500 is offered, with an additional travel
and study allowance of UKP1500.

The Plaster Restoration Company, Edinburgh, in conjunction with the
Scottish Conservation Bureau of Historic Scotland is offering a
two-year Fellowship in traditional ornamental plasterwork, based
on-site at various locations around Scotland. Appointment is
anticipated in June 2003. The aim of the programme is primarily to
develop hands-on craft skills in the production and repair of
ornamental plasterwork, but there will also be the opportunity for
theory training and study. The scheme is directly aligned with
Historic Scotland's stated aim to raise the standard of conservation
practice among owners, trade and professional groups.

The programme provides an opportunity for tradesmen and women to
extend their existing building industry skills to encompass the
specialist skills and understanding required for works to historic
and traditional buildings. Applicants should be time-served in this
field, and hold a valid driving licence. The successful candidate
will be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for building conservation and
a high level of craft potential for ornamental plasterwork.

Candidates should apply in writing with a curriculum vitae,
including a statement of approximately 300 words outlining their
interest in and commitment to the conservation of historic buildings
and interiors. Applications should be submitted by April 14th 2003
