A death

Sheila Waters asked me to express her gratitude to all of you who
sent cards, emails, and well wishes to Peter in recent days.  He
received them in time to appreciate how much he meant to us
individually and professionally, and found the shower of affection
deeply moving.  Sheila described the press of mail decorating their
living room as "looking like Christmas!"  Peter Waters died
peacefully this morning (26 June 2003) in his home in Emmitsburg,
Maryland, attended by his wife and daughter-in-law.  He will be
acutely missed.
