Upper Midwest Conservation Association Presents Disaster Response:
Salvaging Museum, Library, and Archival Materials.  A Two-Day
Disaster Workshop Offered Throughout the Midwest.

This workshop is a follow-up to the 2001 workshop: Disaster
Response: The Critical First 48 Hours.  The Disaster Response series
intends to train participants to successfully and safely overcome
disasters to their collections.  This upcoming workshop will focus
on the salvage aspects of disaster response. Participants will work
with objects representing different types of disasters and learn the
hands-on techniques for proper salvage.

Participants from the first workshop in the series are encouraged to
attend. Participants new to the Disaster Response series are also
welcome.  This workshop is designed for anyone who is responsible
for the care of collections, including directors, curators,
registrars, librarians, archivists, preservation administrators, and

The instructor will be Neil Cockerline, Field Services Director with
Upper Midwest Conservation Association.  Mr. Cockerline is a trained
instructor for the national disaster response workshops sponsored by
the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation.

    State Historical Society of North Dakota, Bismarck
    August 7-8, 2003

    South Dakota Art Museum, Brookings
    August 11-12, 2003

    Milwaukee Public Museum, Wisconsin
    August 25-26, 2003

    Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minnesota
    September 4-5, 2003

    University of Iowa, Iowa City
    September 15-16, 2003

Workshop costs for these two-day workshops will be $165 for UMCA
members and $200 for nonmembers.
