        plasterers that will provide an opportunity to learn the
        techniques of repair and replication of traditional internal

    Edge-tool Sharpening PC 01

        The Edge Tool Sharpening course provides students with the
        skills to produce high quality edges on knives, chisels,
        plane and plough blades.  Students will use a variety of
        abrasives including diamond stones, Japanese water stones
        and powered grindstones, plus extensive time on the bench,
        to produce a variety of blades. The course also includes
        information on steel quality and heat treatment.

    Papermaking for Conservators PC 02

        The Papermaking course will give students the chance to make
        paper by hand. The course involves selection of cotton,
        linen and rope fibre, beating in the College's Hollander,
        sheet forming by hand, and sizing the finished papers. There
        is an emphasis on understanding the papermaking process, and
        identifying the characteristics of handmade paper.

    January 11-14, 2004 The Conservation of Leather PC 03

        Although leather is found in association with a wide range
        of objects, this course will concentrate on where it is
        traditionally used on period furniture, as interior
        decoration, upholstery and wallcoverings as well as library
        materials. The course is designed both to explore history,
        techniques and the use of leather and to review current
        practice in its conservation. The format of the course
        includes demonstrations, practical sessions, lectures and
        case histories and it will be presented by two leading
        practitioners both working and teaching in this specialist
