The Rome Prize 2004

The American Academy in Rome <> announces its
2004 Rome Prize competition. Each year, up to 2 Rome Prizes are
awarded in the field of Historic Preservation and Conservation. Rome
Prize winners reside at the Academy's 11 acre center in Rome and
receive room and board and a studio. Both six and 11 month
fellowships are awarded, carrying stipends of $10,500 and $21,000,

Historic Preservation and Conservation applicants are expected to be
seasoned professionals, actively engaged in their fields, with
enough experience and maturity to give them direction once they
arrive in Rome. These awards are intended to serve a broad range of
individuals who work in those areas of the arts and humanities in
which the Academy gives fellowships, from the conservation of works
of art, to architectural design, to public policy in the management
of cities.

The annual deadline for the Rome Prize is November 1st.

The American Academy in Rome is one of the leading overseas centers
for independent study and advanced research in the arts and
humanities. Through a nationally juried process, up to 30 Rome Prize
fellowships are awarded, annually, in Architecture, Design, Historic
Preservation and Conservation, Landscape Architecture, Literature,
Musical Composition, Visual Arts, Ancient Studies, Medieval Studies,
Renaissance and Early Modern Studies and Modern Italian Studies.
