Bay Area Art Conservation Guild

From: Margaret E. Geiss-Mooney <mgmooney>
Date: Sunday, November 30, 2003
The Bay Area Art Conservation Guild (BAACG) will hold their next
meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2003, 5:30-9pm at the Asian Art
Museum of San Francisco, 200 Larkin Street, San Francisco.

The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco opened this year in their
newly renovated building on Civic Center Plaza. Its holdings include
nearly 15,000 treasures spanning 6,000 years of history,
representing cultures throughout Asia. The museum's new home is the
result of the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the city's former
Main Library, a 1917 beaux arts-style building. Renowned architect
Gae Aulenti oversaw the dramatic transformation of the building--now
featuring 40,000 square feet of gallery space--allowing the museum
to better fulfill its mission of leading a diverse global audience
in discovering the unique material, aesthetic, and intellectual
achievements of Asian art and culture. Please check
<URL:> for specific driving,
parking and public transportation information. Meet at the entrance
on Larkin Street marked "Priority Entry".

This meeting is free for BAACG members; Non-member cost is $5.00;
Student cost is $3.00. Please RSVP to

no later than December 9, 2003. Your name must be added to the group
list for free admittance.

Our tardy 2002-03 Annual Business Meeting will take place first,
beginning at 5:45pm. Afterwards, you can visit all of the galleries,
the Museum Shop and the Cafe Asia until the Museum closes at 9pm.
Meg Geiss-Mooney will lead a very informal walk-thru, with a
definite fibre/costume bias, as well.
