Conservation Scientist and
Fixed Term Conservation Scientist 23 months
The British Museum
Salary   UKP23,000 p.a.

You will join the Department of Conservation, Documentation and
Science, working in the Conservation Science and Analytical
Chemistry Group and reporting to the Head of Group.

Conservation Scientist (2003/68):

    You will have a strong knowledge of analytical chemistry,
    particularly ion chromatography and ICP which you wish to apply
    to the study of inorganic materials.  In this post you will
    combine analysis of objects to facilitate their conservation and
    curation with experimentation to study the deterioration and
    conservation of objects in the collection.  You will be expected
    to share your work with the wider museum and conservation
    community through lecturing and publication.

Fixed Term Conservation Scientist (Ref 2003/69):

    You will have a knowledge of ferrous metal chemistry which you
    will use to carry out a project designed to investigate post
    excavation deterioration and storage of archaeological iron
    objects.  The project will involve liaison with both
    conservators and curators of archaeological iron, and
    dissemination of the outcome through publication.
