Call for papers Twentieth Century Furniture Research Group Second conference High Wycombe Campus (BCUC) Thursday, June 10, 2004 The themes of the day will be based around furniture conservation, design, history, and technology. The focus will be on furniture, which was produced between 1939 and 1954. We are currently looking for papers on the following topics, * The effects of WW1/2 on furniture manufacturers, adaptation and production * Utility furniture * Upholstery developments, including foam * Furniture retailers * New materials, including polymers * Designer furniture 1939-1954 Each paper will be of between 20 and 30 minutes duration. Abstracts should be 200-300 words long including a brief bibliography and an approximate number of images given.
