Materials Scientist/Manuscripts Analysis Short-term research position Trinity College Dublin Trinity College Library and Trinity College Physics Department/Materials Ireland have established a joint research project concerning the analysis of the materials of medieval manuscripts, and are seeking applications for a one year contract, with the possibility of renewal. The successful applicant will work with the Manuscripts Department and the Conservation Department of Trinity College Library, and will be based in the Physics Department. The Library and the Physics department will jointly supervise research. It is expected that the results of the project will be disseminated across the fields of conservation, manuscripts research and materials science. Required Skills, Education and Experience: A post-graduate qualification in chemistry/physics combined with a strong interest/experience in the visual arts or materials conservation. The successful candidate will have a sound level of scientific experience and a serious interest in a career as a scientist in the field of cultural materials analysis. Experience with spectroscopic analysis, particularly Raman spectroscopy is desirable along with other analytical techniques. Advanced computational skills are required along with strong communications skills. A record of publication is preferred.
