Subject: Adhesive for bone

I also found B-72 rather too sticky for porous and friable bone and prefer HMG as adhesive. Our museum conservator suggested using a consolidant (Paraloid B-72 diluted with acetone) in several coats prior to gluing, with the first coat very dilute. Worked well and is reversible, but of course the treated bone cannot then be used for carbon dating or other isotope studies. We need your help. FAIC seeks to improve CoOL and the DistList, and increase their value to the conservation field and beyond. In an effort to do so, we have put together a short, voluntary survey of DistList subscribers and other users of the CoOL website and its various resources. Please help us develop these invaluable resources by taking a few minutes to complete the survey
