    Postimpressionists
International Symposium
Cologne
June 12-13, 2008

To accompany the exhibition "Painting Light - Hidden techniques of
the Impressionists" (Feb 29 - Jun 22, 2008), the
Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and Fondation Corboud will host a symposium.
>From 12-14 June 2008, international experts will talk about
"Painting techniques of Impressionists and Postimpressionists" at
the Stiftersaal of the museum. The keynotes of the event are
information on the current state of scholarship and
interdisciplinary exchange between conservators and art historians.

The symposium starts on Thursday, 12 June 2008 with a keynote
lecture by Richard Brettell (University of Texas, Dallas). On
Friday, 13 June 2008 and Saturday, 14 June 2008 sixteen talks will
be given. The symposium will be conducted in German and English. All
German talks will be translated simultaneously into English.

The symposium will be held by the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and
Fondation Corboud in co-operation with the Cologne Institute of
Conservation Science (CICS) and the Association of German
Conservators (VDR). It is being generously sponsored by the Fritz
Thyssen Stiftung and the RheinEnergieStiftung Jugend, Beruf und
Wissenschaft.
