Project Inventory Conservator
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking an experienced
photograph or paper conservator for a general inventory of the
Museum's collection of photography and works on paper.  This
full-time position will work directly with an inventory team to view
works in the collection and compile reports on condition.
Responsibilities will include: condition assessment; housing and
storage recommendations; treatment recommendations; verification of
dimensions; process identification; documentation photography; and
collections management software data entry. Applicants should
possess knowledge of both historical and contemporary photography
processes as well as knowledge of the care and handling of works of
art on paper. The Project Inventory Conservator will collaborate
with members of the conservation department in the respective
disciplines as necessary. This position will begin in January 2009
and will be a 12-month assignment with possible extension. Salary
will be commensurate with experience and will include full benefits.

Candidates should be graduates of a recognized conservation training
program with at least 2 years of postgraduate experience, or
equivalent, and eligible to work in the United States.
Interdisciplinary experience, as well as experience with modern and
contemporary art would be advantageous.
