The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress announces
the 45th presentation in the Topics in Preservation Series (TOPS):

"Collection Environments: What Should We Know and How Can We Know
    It?"
Mr. James M. Reilly
West Dining Room, 6th floor
James Madison Building
Thursday, May 28, 2009
10:30-11:30 am

This lecture will describe the Image Permanence Institute's
approaches and tools for environmental assessment in cultural
heritage institutions. IPI's approach is an inherently sustainable
one that makes use of quantitative metrics of the 'preservation
quality' of storage and display environments. Mr. Reilly will
introduce IPI's latest web-based systems and present the 10-year
evolution of these tools and approaches at the Library of Congress.

Mr. James M. Reilly, Director of the Image Permanence Institute,
Rochester, NY, has written extensively on preservation issues, is a
consultant to numerous museums and government agencies, and is
sought after worldwide as a teacher and seminar speaker.

Webcast opportunity: If you would like to participate via webcast,
send email to anha<-at->loc<.>gov three days in advance of the event.

The Topics in Preservation Series lectures are free and open to the
public. Upcoming presentations include:
