Questionnaire on the use of synthetic sponges and foam swabs in
    conservation

I am a current student of the MA in Conservation of Wall Paintings
at the Courtauld Institute of Art. I am doing my research for my
dissertation on the use of sponges and the potential role of them in
conservation of wall paintings.

This questionnaire aims to gather information about the use of
synthetic sponges and foam swabs by conservators. This information
will inform the design of an MA dissertation for characterising and
assessing different types of sponges (melamine, rubber and
PVCl-based) and foam swabs and their potential use in the
conservation of wall painting. A summary with the information
received will be sent to the respondents in summer 2010.
