New Masters in Heritage Science at UCL Centre for Sustainable

At UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage, we are delighted to announce
a new Masters programme: Heritage Science.

This interdisciplinary programme takes an innovative approach to the
teaching of 'hard' science subjects within a heritage research
context. The aim is to develop among researchers and practitioners,
a broad understanding of state-of-the-art science and its
application to conservation, interpretation, management and access
to cultural heritage.

Who is it for? This programme will appeal to science graduates and
those who can demonstrate an aptitude for science. Different
disciplinary backgrounds will challenge and enrich the learning
experience. Three years' work experience or a minimum of 5 years'
professional experience is desirable, with demonstrable experience
in scientific research.

How does it work? The programme is designed to include a significant
research component with intensively linked projects, field-based
living laboratory and the Masters Dissertation. It is delivered in a
modular way and can be taken full time (1 year) or part time (2-5
years). The block-style of teaching will be particularly suitable
for employers.

What do students get out of it? The students develop an
interdisciplinary understanding of science and strong teamworking,
presentation, leadership, management and negotiation skills.
Ideally, the graduates will pursue a PhD in an interdisciplinary
science subject or a professional heritage research-based role.
