Current Technical Research into Painting in Britain from 1550-1850

Tate Conservation will be hosting a one day symposium on Current
Technical Research into Painting in Britain from 1550-1850 on
Friday, 30 March at Tate Britain.  This event will feature current
technical research being carried out at the Tate Gallery, the
National Portrait Gallery, the Wallace Collection, the Courtauld
Institute of Art and other institutions. Areas covered will be Tudor
painting, 17th-century Flemish immigrant painters,
eighteenth-century British artists, and the process of lightening
and darkening of British paintings from the whole period. There is
no charge for this event but we do require all to register in
advance as places are limited.  Talks will start at 10:00 am and
conclude by 16:30.  Please register by 9 March, 2012 by calling Tate
Ticketing at +44 20 7887 8888.  Enquiries may be directed to
ticketing<-at->tate<.>org<.>uk.

A detailed programme of speakers will be announced soon.  This event
is supported by the Clothworkers' Foundation Research Fellowship.
