Phase One Office Products, the company that sells the staple removers announced in the November issue, was intrigued by the number of inquiries they got by mail, beginning in January. No phone or fax inquiries--just letters. That was because neither of the numbers we published were right. Nobody could get through, so they had to write. Our apologies to Elizabeth Morse, who sent in that notice, as well as the notice about the cheese grater; to readers, who were needlessly frustrated by these errors; and to the hapless woman whos home number, 617/364-3927, we gave as Phase One's fax number.
Both products are indeed offered by the companies named. Here is how those notices should have read:
A Grater for Vinyl Erasers
An industrial stainless steel cheese grater for grating vinyl erasers can be purchased through Globe Food Service Equipment Corporation of Belmont, MA. Their phone number is 617/923-1274 and their fax is 617/489-5550. The model name is "FIMAR" and it runs about $750.00. The crumb produced can be fine or coarse and is done in a fraction of the time needed for hand grating.
A handy staple remover shaped like a Reach® toothbrush is a cheap and safe way to remove staples, especially from soft papers. It can be had for $3.50 from Phase One Office Products, Inc., 89 Fulkerson St., Cambridge, MA 02141. The part number is G2K. Their phone number is 800/999-5474 or 617/547-0700. Their fax is 800/333-3797. Just push it forward--the slotted blade retains the staples.

Paid advertisements, except for job ads, are not accepted. Job advertisements are billed at the rate of $50 for the heading and the first ten lines (55-60 characters per line), plus $2 per line thereafter. Any notice that is appropriate and newsworthy will be printed if there is room for it. Claims for issues never received will be honored within a year of publication. Defective issues will be gladly replaced on request.
The Abbey Newsletter is selectively indexed in Art & Archaeology Technical Abstracts and the Institute of Paper Science & Technology Abstract Bulletin. All issues but v.1 #2 are in print, and each volume has its own index.
The Editor encourages readers to photocopy freely from the Newsletter; but the Editor's permission must be obtained before making more than 20 copies of lengthy or signed articles. This allows any necessary corrections or updates to be made before duplication.
