Conservators in Private Practice (CIPP) was organized in 1986 to address the issues related to running a conservation business and to represent private practice issues within the AIC organization. The membership is composed of conservators from all specialties who exchange information, suggestions, and tips on the exigencies, challenges, and rewards of the conservation business.

Annual meeting presentations focus on business-related topics such as estimating, financial management, insurance, lab design, and record keeping. The printed versions of these presentations are distributed to CIPP members after the session each year.

CIPP is also producing a Business Handbook. This detailed guide, in outline form, on the running of a conservation business. It is a benefit that will be available to members of CIPP. Fee to join: $25.
