The Textile Specialty Group Website

The Textile Specialty Group (TSG) welcomes any AIC member involved with or interested in textile conservation. The group has 250 members, many of whom are active textile conservators.

TSG activity concentrates on programs at AIC annual meetings. Each year, TSG presents a full-day program with papers on a wide range of textile conservation subjects, materials research and analysis, case studies, techniques, costume and upholstery conservation, archeological and ethnographic issues and others. Beginning in 1991, papers given at the annual meeting are published in TSG Postprints. Five chapters of the Textile Conservation Catalog, now available, documents and discusses the various aspects of textile conservation, from ethical issues to specific treatment methods. The Directory of Hand Stitches Used in Textile Conservation is available in its second printing through the AIC office. Fees to join: $25 (U.S. and Canada delivery); $30 (overseas delivery); $8 (student/U.S. and Canada delivery); $18 (student/overseas delivery).
