WORKSHOP: Digital Photography 101
Wednesday, June 9    9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

This workshop, taught by Yosi Pozeilov, Staff Photographer of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Conservation Center, addresses the special needs and challenges that conservators encounter when documenting their work with digital photography. Topics include: digital imaging basics; the importance of knowing the purpose or intended destination of the images generated; lighting basics; image preservation and transfer mechanisms; and image editing software basics. Participants are encouraged to bring a digital camera if possible.

Fee: $120

LUNCHEON: Becoming Adept at Using On-Line Information
Saturday, June 12    12 noon - 1:30 p.m.

At this special luncheon co-hosted with the Book & Paper Group, Conservators In Private Practice and Photographic Materials Group, Professor and Reference Librarian Red Wassenich will make a presentation titled "Incorporating Information Literacy into Conservation: Searching beyond Google," focused on guidelines and techniques for improving the web searching skills of conservators. A number of sample conservation-oriented questions will be researched and extensive hand-outs will be provided to the audience.

Ticket price: $15 (includes box lunch and beverage)

RECEPTION & BUSINESS MEETING

The EMG Business Meeting just got livelier. After an afternoon of provocative presentations, join us at Oregon's oldest craft brewery to enjoy dinner and refreshments with your colleagues and the program speakers. Housed in a building named on the National Register of Historic Places, the BridgePort Brewing Co. is located in Portland's Pearl District, an area of art galleries, warehouses and restaurants. It is a 15-minute walk or a short, free trolley ride from the hotel.
